Ava, Wesley and Nico | Summery Cuteness at Bear Creek Gardens

Last week I had a mini session with Jenny and Mike's beautiful family.  When they stepped out of the car I was so happy to see their bright summery colours!  So perfect.  Ava, Wesley and Nicholas are so adorable and so energetic :)  We chose a quiet part of Bear Creek Gardens where they wouldn't be very distracted and just did a mini session (20 minutes).  The kids were then free to go wild.  Jenny and Mike are amazing parents who just exude love and patience.  I love meeting such awesome people and just getting to know them in this setting.  Yes, pictures can be stressful for some, but if you just relax and let your kids be themselves, it will all be okay.
It was so great to see you all again!  I hope you enjoyed exploring the park afterwards.
Mike and Jenny, great to see you again.  I especially liked that this time it was in the sunshine instead of the rain:)

Bear Creek Gardens | Extended Family Session

Bear Creek Gardens is a great place for summer family sessions as there is ample shade, beautiful gardens and then a fabulous playground for the kiddos to play at afterwards!  I met Kelsey (youngest daughter in the family) years ago through the wonderful world of blogging and facebook:)  She was a bridesmaid in Sara and Dan's wedding back in 2010 when her oldest daughter, Addison, was still in utero.  Being that they were visiting family for a couple of weeks this summer, an extended family session was a great idea!  Every grandparent loves an extended family session :)

I have two more extended family sessions this August and then I am actually no longer doing them.  If you are interested in one, I can recommend several photographers for you!  As a photographer, it's definitely ideal to narrow your niche and this is one area that I struggle to be creative with:)   I love meeting so many people and seeing the family dynamics but it's tricky to get all the combo's down while organizing and keeping kids interested!  It's like trying to squeeze 4 family sessions into one which really takes away from flexibility and candidness!

However, back to the session here...let's see if you can guess which adult sibling is the comedian in the family:)
It was great to meet you all!  Kiddos, you all did so well!! Parents, not bad either:)

Jeff & Natalie: Wedding Day

It sounds like I love every wedding, and well, I do! Each one has it's own personality and when you spend so much time with the bride and groom, you get to know them quite well (especially on an emotional day like their wedding day!). Gary and I knew these two already, before we began, as I taught them both way back in grade 9. This wedding gets the `Best Props' Award. I mean, usually there are shots where everyone wears sunglasses or something, but in this case they also had balloons and paper parasols. I'm not suggesting that you go all crazy with props on your wedding day but it is fun once in a while. Okay, let's get started!
{The girls were getting ready super early as they did their portrait session before the ceremony. Natalie was super calm and relaxed about everything. Meanwhile, her sister was madly working on her speech:)}
{They had a great yard to take photos in!}
{Mom did up her dress and we were ready to go! I love the middle picture of Natalie looking at her mom. Pretty much 99% of the photos we take of the bride and groom getting ready are candids and I LOVE candids:) I'll show the ceremony pictures next which includes the pre-ceremony huddle....}
{Natalie all smiles as she was heading down the aisle with her dad. Well, let's be honest, she was all smiles, all day! I loved the arrangement that the had on the stage. They had bridesmaid and groomsmen coupled together and scattered around the stage....yay for breaking tradition!!}
{Check out the interaction between bride, groom, and dad. The handshake/hug says so much at the end of the aisle. Below you can see that Jeff was pretty emotional, a happy kind of emotional.}
{A bridesmaid, Brittany, and best man Harold led the singing which is always fun and meaningful.}
{So you know how when you have to go up on a stage, you might worry that you'll fall off or something? Natalie's sister, Richelle, did just that in the middle of the message. She was fine and we all laughed. It was great:)}
{The first picture in this group above shows when Jeff and Natalie first saw each other. I always feel a little sneaky watching them in such an intimate moment but you have to capture it!}
{They have a very fun metal chapel at Bear Creek Gardens so we started there. I guess I'm only posting one picture with balloons, but, there were a lot! Some fun jumping ones too, of course.}
{Parasols=great touch for girls in the garden! And let's be honest, they nicely blocked out the sunspots.}
{Jeff with the boys and then the girls. Isn't it cute with them peeking over the umbrellas?}
{We had all of the flowers except for Natalie's. Her bouquet took a bit of time getting there but fortunately her aunt delivered it for us, just in time!}
{Please note that along with the boys spying on them, they are standing in front of a giant bear shaped bush. You know, for Bear Creek Gardens. Kind of random. Below, nose to nose...cute.}
{I love fun coloured shoes!! If I did our wedding over again....}
{And, on to the lunch reception where there were games, speeches, and food galore.}
{The groomsmen even did a musical number.}
{And even though it was a lunch reception, they still got in a first dance, with their bridal party as well.}
Congratulations Jeff and Natalie. May your marriage be filled with love and laughter like the photo above. Thank you for inviting us to share in your day, we loved being there with you!

Jeff & Natalie: Wedding Day Sneak Peek

I guess this is more of a sneak peek of Natalie and her bridesmaids than of the lovely bride and groom! I just wanted to show you some of the fun props that they brought along. I should have their whole wedding posted here tomorrow so check back then!

Tim & Erin's Wedding Day

On Saturday morning we were able to help celebrate Tim and Erin's special day. They had their photos done early in the morning, before the ceremony, and the weather was perfect for it. One good thing about pictures in the morning (besides the lighting) is that no one else was in the park! Here are some pictures of the happy couple. They were able to get such a variety of pictures as they love being goofy together AND staring into eachother's eyes for forever. Here are a few...

Julia and Trevor's 5th Wedding Anniversary

Julia and Trevor had family photos done to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary as well as the arrival of their youngest son, Levi. Gary and I used to work with both Trevor and Julia so it was great to catch up with them and their little boys! We went to Bear Creek Gardens which is actually where they had their wedding photos done. The weather was perfect and the boys, Gideon and Levi, did fantastically. Here are some pictures of their beautiful family!
