Koen Turns Six

Every year, I take photos of my kids on/near their birthdays.  Poor Koen was born January 2 so his sessions are always a tad bit chilly.  I promised him it would take less than 10 minutes and let him choose the spots that he wanted.  Koen has a hard time smiling for photos because he can't fake it.  His face just always expresses how he really feels.  He's our sensitive guy.

Koen is unique.  He plays very well on his own and makes up many creative games.  He loves playing with his stuffies and will spend the day sending them on an Amazing Race, or playing Ninja Warrior or even The Price is Right.  He loves to cuddle with us or his stuffies and his special blanket; Bubi.

He will either play independently or he will follow what other people do.  He usually does not take the lead unless the kids are much younger than him.  He copies others in play and all it takes is one suggestion and Koen will throw himself in 100% without thinking about what might happen.  This is great because he's enthusiastic and eager.  This is also concerning when I think about him as a teenager!

He has a caring heart.  When he hears that someone is sick, his first thought is `We need to pray for them!'.  He worries about others and wants to make sure they are all safe.

He is goofy.  He loves to laugh about `toilet humour' and he has many inside jokes with his big brother, Kai.

He loves his siblings so much.  He knows them very well and really enjoys pestering them.

Koen has taught me patience.  He has provided us with so many laughs.  His thoughtfulness can melt my heart.

Like his big brother, his appetite is wild.  He loves all food (except for mushrooms) but his favourite of all are mangoes.  That was what he wanted for his birthday...a box of mangoes.

We love you Koey/Doughball/Cobalt/Koen and are so thankful for you.

Love,
Mom/Louise

Fall Family Photos | Tynehead Park Surrey

I loved this session.  The leaves, the weather, the CUTE kids who rarely stop smiling, and the AMAZING costumes that super mom made (seriously, wait until you see them!).  I first photographed Cam & Karen when Kirra turned two.  It was one of my favourites at the time and you can see it here.

You know how the say to end on a high note?  Well, this was the last family session for me for a while.  I'm not sure what our 2015 is going to look like so we're just accepting a few weddings a year at this point.  I could possibly have spring/summer/fall mini session dates (and if I did, I think the fall one would be PERFECT here at Tynehead Park!).    It was so great to finish with such a lovely, beautiful, and kind family in such a gorgeous setting.  So bittersweet for me.

Thank you to all of the families over the last SEVEN years who have asked us to capture their family photos.  We are so thankful and grateful and appreciative.  You have trusted me.  You have given me the opportunity to stay home with my children a whole lot more.  You have helped to provide an income when I was unable to teach due to my autoimmune disease (now in remission, phew!).  Thank you.

Okay, are you ready for a really, super cute session?!!  Enjoy :)
Thank you Cam, Karen, Kirra and Tyler for having me capture your awesomeness one more time.  I loved it!

Love,
Louise

Back To School Mini Sessions | Tynehead Park

It's back to school time! Wow, we had an amazing summer but I have to say that in this house, we are all ready to head back to school.  Well, Gary back to teaching and Kai off to grade two!  Koen still has another year of preschool (he's a January 2 baby, so close!) and I'll be subbing part time!

Every year I love to get some `Back To School' photos of my own kids.  Just like last year, I did a night of mini sessions and below are some of the adorable kiddos!  I love having them write their own name and grade (if they want) so when you look back you can see their cute little writing at that age:)  Here are some of the photos from our cloudy mini session night...just a few raindrops at the end but we made it!

Happy Back to School Everyone!

Love, Louise

{First off is Brooke.  So sweet and she's headed to kindergarten! }
{Next up is a group of cousins who I have enjoyed photographing over the years!  They just rocked the photos so they had time to get some group combos too!}
{And a couple of my own kids with haircuts that were just a bit too short, oops :)}
Happy September!!

Brielle Turns Two | Tea Party Session

The cuteness of this session was in overload!! I love doing something a little different and throw in a creative set up, a sweet and adorable little two year old, and I'm SOOOOO happy!!  Last year I did a family session for Crystal and Jeremy when Brielle turned one.  This year, they wanted to do a sweet little tea party for Brielle on her 2nd birthday and I think it worked out so well.

Happy 2nd birthday Brielle!
Crystal and Jeremy, thank you for having me capture some photos of your precious daughter on her birthday!

Elissa & Michael | Tynehead Park Wedding Photos

What a great day.   Elissa has been a bridesmaid in several weddings we've done and now she was the bride!!   I taught Elissa first way back when she was in grade eight and I have a feeling she is going to teach my kids one day as she is going to be a high school science/biology teacher!  That's just one of the reasons she is so cool:)    I know Michael from when I was one of his cross country coaches (aka bus driver) back in high school.  There was no coaching him as he could probably run better than me when he was 5.  It's so fun taking pictures of people that you have such a history with, thank you for having us!

Elissa and Michael started dating after they were the maid of honour and best man in a wedding years ago.  It was Elissa's sister, Adana, and Michael's best friend (now brother in law) Daniel.   So fun.  There are many, many photos posted here so I will get right to it!

Enjoy this sunshine filled wedding day!
{I love father daughter photos...}
The ceremony was at Bethany Baptist Church which was a beautiful venue.  So big and full of light.}

{Then it was off to Tynehead Park for family and wedding party photos.  We used several locations like the Serpentine Fields and Hills.}
{Below is Serpentine Park.  It's where Michael proposed to Elissa...right there on the baseball diamond!}
Congratulations Elissa and Michael!! Thank you for having us be part of your day, we really enjoyed ourselves!  All the best to you as you continue on as husband and wife!
Love, Louise and Gary
